Gaza Hospitals Face Imminent Collapse Amid Severe Fuel and Food Shortages

Gaza: Hospitals across the besieged Gaza Strip are on the verge of total shutdown due to rapidly worsening fuel shortages, according to Dr. Marwan al-Hams, director of field hospitals at Gaza’s Health Ministry. In a stark statement in reports, he warned that the healthcare system is nearing total collapse.

Al-Hams reported that most hospitals are expected to cease operations imminently as their fuel supplies dwindle to zero. Without power, critical machines like ventilators and incubators are at risk of failing, putting thousands of lives in immediate danger. Beyond the energy crisis, even basic necessities like food are running out. “We cannot provide a single morsel of bread for hospital patients or doctors,” he said.

The appeal from Gaza’s medical leadership was directed at the international community, urgently calling for protection and intervention to safeguard healthcare facilities that are being choked by the blockade and relentless conflict. These hospitals, already overwhelmed by mass casualties from ongoing Israeli attacks, are now grappling with the impossible choice of who to treat with their last remaining resources.

The situation is deteriorating rapidly, with no access to consistent humanitarian aid and no fuel shipments permitted. As the siege continues, Gaza’s hospitals—long a last refuge for the wounded and sick—are turning into silent buildings without light, medicine, or sustenance.
